Deportivo believe the referee made an error and have therefore submitted an appeal to the Competition Committee, arguing that there was indeed contact in the incident and that Yeremay did not dive. In their appeal, the Coruña-based club will provide photographic evidence, video footage from multiple angles, and examples of similar incidents from earlier this season where bookings were later rescinded. The club hopes the committee will annul the yellow card, allowing Yeremay to feature in next Sunday’s clash with Andorra.
The Competition Committee’s decision is expected on Wednesday, with the possibility of further appeal to the Appeals Committee should the initial bid fail.
