Marc Márquez shared images from the hospital on social media after undergoing double surgery on Sunday at the Ruber Internacional Clinic in Madrid.

The MotoGP star posted several photos showing him standing in his garden on crutches, recovering from the operation to repair a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot — an injury caused by his highside crash during the sprint race at the French Grand Prix. He also shared pictures from his hospital bed, revealing the bandaged areas from both procedures, along with images alongside his partner, Gemma Pinto, who supported him throughout the process.
Accompanying the photos, Marc wrote a heartfelt message thanking his fans and the medical team that treated him on Sunday. “The surgery was a success! I am truly grateful for your kind messages and support. A special thanks to the medical team for their incredible work,” he said.
Ducati’s official team responded with an encouraging message: “Forza Marc,” accompanied by a heart emoji.
Double Surgery
In addition to the foot operation, Marc Márquez underwent a second, pre-planned surgery to address an issue with one of the screws in his shoulder, which had caused him to lose sensation while riding. According to a Ducati statement released Sunday, “The medical team, led by Dr. Samuel Antuña alongside Dr. Ignacio Roger de Oña, Dr. Andrés Maldonado, Dr. Jorge de las Heras, Dr. Raúl Barco, and Dr. Juan de Miguel, has successfully stabilized the fracture of the fifth metatarsal in the rider’s right foot. This injury occurred yesterday as a result of a highside crash in the closing laps of the Sprint race at the French Grand Prix.”
“At the same time, Márquez underwent a second, pre-scheduled surgical intervention to treat a previous right shoulder injury. This earlier trauma had become painful again after the violent crash at last year’s Indonesian Grand Prix. Doctors removed two screws and a bone fragment from a prior Latarjet surgery (December 2019) that had shifted and was compressing the radial nerve,” the statement continued.
