Erling Haaland has spoken about Manchester City’s title ambitions following their commanding 3-0 victory over Brentford.
The win trimmed Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League table to just three points, with the north London side set to face West Ham later today. City now need the Gunners to drop points in one of their remaining three matches to have a realistic chance of snatching the title—while also winning all of their own games.
Haaland, who scored one goal and provided an assist on Saturday, made it clear that ambition runs deep within the squad as they push for more silverware this season.
“If you play for Manchester City, you think about titles every day,” the striker said.
“It feels good to win 3-0,” he added after the final whistle. “Today we were just missing the final touch in front of goal. We created a lot of chances but couldn’t finish many of the crosses. Brentford defended well. They’re a good team. There are no easy games in the Premier League, so we’re happy.”
On his personal goal tally, Haaland commented: “I’m just trying to do my job. 26 goals is more than last season, so it’s fine.”
City boss Pep Guardiola was heard shouting “come on you Irons” in his post-match press conference, as all eyes turn to West Ham’s clash with Arsenal, hoping the relegation-threatened side can spring a surprise.
