Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has announced that he will extend his contract with the Catalan club until the summer of 2028. The German tactician made the revelation during a press conference, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Flick’s current contract with Barcelona runs until the end of the 2026/27 season. “I am very grateful to the club for the opportunity to coach the team until 2028. The club has the right to terminate the contract, and so do I. We will discuss the additional year later. In recent days, it has become clear to me that I am in the right place. Now, we need to keep winning and try to win the Champions League again. I am very thankful to the club for their trust,” Flick stated.
Flick took over as Barcelona’s head coach in May 2024. Under his leadership, the team has won the league title twice, the Spanish Super Cup twice, and the Copa del Rey once. On the club level, he previously managed Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich, with whom he secured a treble in the 2019/20 season—winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and the UEFA Champions League.
Flick also served as head coach of the German national team from August 2021. He was dismissed after Germany failed to progress from the group stage at the 2022 FIFA World Cup (where they were grouped with Spain, Japan, and Costa Rica) and following a winless run in friendly matches.
