600 Workers go out on strike at the Bandar Abbas Refinery Development Corporation
About 600 workers at Bandar Abbas Refinery Development Corporation started a strike on February 19 protesting five months unpaid back wages.
On the fifth day of the strike management offered one months pay, if workers were willing to return to work. The workers declined the offer. They refused to settle for anything less then the full five months wages.
According to the striking workers, the security at the refinery threatened the workers on the second and third days. Security forces armed with tear gas and batons blocked workers from exiting the compounds.
Workers at the Bandar Abbas Refinery Development staged another strike on November 9th forcing the management to pay their September wages. The workers have not received any wages since the first labor action and are working under dire conditions today.
