Deep Concerns of Tehran and Suburbs Vahed Bus Workers Syndicate over the Well Being of Reza Shahabi
Tehran and Suburbs Vahed Bus Workers Syndicate has released a statement on the lack of information on Reza Shahabi, a board member of the syndicate, who has been imprisoned since June 12 of this year. The text of the statement translated by Iran Labor Report is as follows:
Reza Shahabi, a member of the board of directors of the Vahed Bus Workers Syndicate who was arrested on June 12, 2010 and transferred to the Evin prison has had three phone conversations with his family until early July of this year and it has been two weeks that there has not been any information from him. In his last phone conversation, he has complained about neck and back problems which have raised concern with his family.
Repeated follow ups by his family with the prosecutor’s office as well as the citizens’ rights court and his lawyer with the revolutionary prosecution’s office has not yielded any results yet and this lack of information has caused concern amongst his family and the syndicate members.
Vahed Bus Workers Syndicate, which has been established to protect the trade union rights of the workers, condemns the arrest and lack of news on its member and calls for his unconditional release.
Wishing for the spread of peace and justice throughout the world
