Khark Petrochemical Explosion Claims Four Workers’ Lives

An explosion in the old central boiler unit at Khark Petrochemical Complex in southern Bushehr region resulted in fire and extreme heat and gas release causing death and injuries at the plant. The four fallen workers are Seyyed Mashaallah Mousavi, Rouhollah Salahchi, Masoud Ahmadzadeh, and Khaled Rezai. Three of the bodies have been recovered. There were also seven injuries in the accident with three being hospitalized due to heat and gas effects. They were released after being attended to their injuries.

The explosion has resulted in the complex being shut down. The complex employs more than 400 and is located 57 Kilometers north of the city of Bushehr on the Persian Gulf. The explosion has been attributed to increased pressures at the central boiler unit.
